ATLANTA -- Healtheon/WebMD Corp., the first end-to-end Internet healthcare company connecting physicians and consumers to the entire healthcare industry, and MedCAREERS.com, the Internet's most comprehensive, easy-to-use site devoted exclusively to providing career and staffing solutions for healthcare professionals, have entered into an agreement in which MedCAREERS will develop and operate the WebMD Career Center on Healtheon/WebMD's provider portal, WebMD Practice. MedCAREERS will be the exclusive provider of online placement and recruitment services for healthcare professionals and prospective employers on Healtheon/WebMD's professional portal.
Total payments to Healtheon/WebMD for placement of the career center on its professional portal will be $40 million over five years. Under the terms of the agreement, Healtheon/WebMD will promote and market the co-branded site to its members. Healtheon/WebMD will also receive a share of revenue generated by the co-branded site.
All of the healthcare professionals including physicians and nurses who access WebMD Practice will be able to utilize MedCAREERS' online database of jobs for all types of healthcare positions -- the largest database of its kind on the Internet. Individuals seeking employment can post their curriculum vitae (CV) and prospective employers seeking candidates for available positions can post job opportunities on the WebMD Career Center.
``The WebMD Career Center is another example of the valuable services that we offer to our subscribers,'' said Charles Saunders, M.D., chief medical officer of Healtheon/WebMD. ``MedCAREERS' comprehensive and extensive databases and its career and staffing solutions for job seekers and prospective employers in the healthcare industry are a valuable addition to the existing services that we provide. As we continue to strengthen the offerings on WebMD Practice, we expect this will drive further adoption of our services across the entire healthcare industry.''
``By combining forces with Healtheon/WebMD, MedCAREERS will be better able to access the important healthcare provider marketplace,'' said Will Goldstein, chief executive officer of MedCAREERS. ``We are pleased to be partnering with an industry leader that shares our commitment to the healthcare industry and has established a loyal membership of healthcare professionals.''
