Conroe Regional Medical Center has achieved recognition as a Certified Primary Stroke Center, an Accredited Chest Pain Center, and designation as a Level II Trauma facility. CRMC also has a Level III Neonatal ICU for the most vulnerable patients. Conroe Regional Medical Center is currently looking for a Hyperbaric Technician II - Wound Care. This is a full time position. RESPONSIBILITIES: The HBO Technician II of the Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine, under the supervision of the Department Manager will assume responsibility for the safe and effective operation of the compression chamber system and supporting components. He/she will maintain a safe environment for all patients and members of the hyperbaric team during compression chamber operations and be thoroughly familiar with all department operational/emergency policies. He/she will work closely with and advise the hyperbaric physician in regards to safe chamber operations in all situations. He/She will also accompany patients undergoing hyperbaric oxygen treatments in the chamber, delivering care appropriate to his/her level of training and in accordance with standard policies and procedures. The HBO Technician II will routinely perform bedside wound care under the direct supervision of a registered nurse. Clinical duties will include dressing changes, negative pressure wound therapy, strapping, whirlpool, assisting with total contact casting, staging patients and vital signs. - Performs system maintenance in a timely fashion and documents all system discrepancies. - Is present in the unit at the designated time and is productive throughout the workday. Stays on task with limited distractions. - Operates the compression chamber and supporting components and maintains operating, maintenance, and safety logs and other required documentation under the auspices of the Department Manager as specified in departmental policy. - Carries out hyperbaric oxygen treatment protocols as prescribed by the hyperbaric physician and actively participates in patient teaching pertaining to HBO treatments. - Observes patients and the hyperbaric system during the course of hyperbaric oxygen treatments, reports unusual occurrences and documents appropriate entries in the medical record. - Prepares hyperbaric chamber equipment and materials needed for patients undergoing hyperbaric oxygen treatments. Maintains a safe environment in the hyperbaric chamber and/or department for patients and staff members and identifies situations in which hyperbaric treatment must be aborted. - Competent as an inside chamber attendant while caring for patients under the direction of the Dive Fitness Nurse and Console Operator. - Maintains the department and hyperbaric facility in a clean and orderly condition. - Assists in wound care under the direct supervision of the hyperbaric physician and/or nurse to the level of his/her training as required. - Operates departmental wound photography equipment as required. - Assists with the transport of patients while utilizing good body mechanics and patient safety awareness. - Transports non-narcotic topical medications to and from the pharmacy.
