Job Description: We are looking to hire a dedicated passionate Mental Health Technician for our 14 bed medical psychiatric unit. The Mental Health Technician is responsible for direct patient care, including assistance with activities of daily living and performing routine technical nursing assignments including: Assists in assessment, planning and implementation of behavioral health care. Admissions, transfers and discharge of patients are assisted. (Especially completion of belongings inventory at admission, transfer or discharge). Provide assistance to assigned patients in achieving treatment goals and objectives. Participation and leadership are exhibited in patient groups. Report and document patient behaviors. Significant changes, physical or mental decline are promptly reported to supervisor. Collect vital signs data and immediately reports significant findings to charge nurse. Basic side effects to psychotropic medications are identified. Perform special functions as required (ex: feed and bath geriatric pts).
