ABOUT THIS OUTSTANDING CAREER OPPORTUNITY

•Reports to the Director of Infection Prevention
•Accountable for the clinical, operational, and support activities of the Department of Infection Prevention in accordance with the hospital’s mission, values, and strategic plan
•Mentors and audits the work of junior Infection Preventionist
•Acts as a subject matter expert on various committees as well as providing consultative services to internal and external customers
•Ensures multidisciplinary implementation of continuous quality improvement and educational programs which foster actions, beliefs, and responsibility for infection control in each member of the medical center team
•Conducts ongoing surveillance investigation and follow-up of infections through review of admission diagnoses, microbiology culture results, isolation orders, patient records, consultation requests, and post-discharge surveillance
•Analyzes trends and risk factors, designs and evaluates prevention and control strategies
•Participates in investigation and reporting of hospital infection outbreaks
•Performs program assessment and makes recommendations for correction and improvement
•Provides a safe healthcare environment for patients by using evidence-based guidelines to prevent HAIs
•Develops prevention and educational strategies for staff, physicians, and patients
•Evaluates research and evidence-based practices and incorporate appropriate findings into routine practice, policies, protocols, and educational strategies
•Independently reviews construction plans and designs and with completion of Infection Control Risk Assessment as needed

Skills

EXPERIENCE | LICENSURE | CERTIFICATION | EDUCATION

•Bachelor’s degree required
•RN, MT(ASCP), or MPH
•CIC required
•A minimum of three years of current acute care Infection Prevention and Control Experience  
•DNV Survey Accreditation experience is a plus
•Familiarity with Cerner and Vigilanz preferred
•Demonstrated understanding of regulatory, accrediting, and advisory body requirements
•Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of hospital staff
