JOB SUMMARY
The Multicultural Mental Health Licensed Psychotherapist reports to the Director of Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) and is assigned duties by the Director as specified herein. The Licensed Psychotherapist will provide high-quality clinical services; community psychology/outreach and consultation services, and may provide supervision/training of doctoral interns and post-doctoral fellows. In discharging these duties, the Licensed Psychotherapist is expected to be keenly sensitive to issues of gender, culture, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disabilities, socio-economic status, etc., and to be skilled with techniques for counseling students with diverse backgrounds. The Licensed Psychotherapist's activities are performed within the limits of standards and ethical principles of their licensure board as well as applicable legal mandates for mental health professionals in the State of California. This position requires demonstrated expertise in multicultural and diversity issues in clinical and outreach services with Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) students.

APPOINTMENT INFORMATION

• Salary Information: Salary Range: $88,143.72 - $103,262.64 if working 12 months or $7,345.31 - $8,605.22 per month, based on time worked.
• Benefits Level Eligibility: Full benefits
• Schedule Information:
- Full-time, Fixed
- 40 Hours per Week, Mon-Fri Day
• Work Location: UC Santa Cruz Main Campus

JOB DUTIES

50% - Direct Clinical Service
• Provides brief counseling and psychotherapy with undergraduate and graduate students (individuals and couples) with a broad range of psychological problems, with a focus on Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) students.
• Provides crisis assessment and crisis intervention.
• Provides case management and referral services.
• Conducts group counseling, psychoeducational groups and drop-in groups.
• Consults with students, faculty and staff regarding student concerns and student distress that affect the developmental and psychological well-being of students in the university community.

35% - Direct Outreach Service
• Functions as a community psychotherapist and a consultant to faculty, staff, residential life staff and other units on campus regarding collaboration and program development for outreach and training to enhance the mental health and psychological well-being of students and the campus community.
• Participates regularly in a cooperative and professional manner in efforts to maintain and upgrade the
• quality of service of the Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) unit by participating in CAPS committees and workgroups and collaborating with other CAPS licensed psychotherapists, college administrators and staff, and faculty in program development, committee work and consultation.

15% - Indirect Service
• Develops and implements culturally responsive and multiculturally sensitive outreach programs to BIPOC students.
• Functions as a liaison to campus organizations serving BIPOC students.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Valid California license in good standing in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor
• Master's degree in related area
• Demonstrated multicultural experience, skills and expertise providing culturally competent and trauma informed clinical services to a BIPOC client population
• Demonstrated clinical experience with individuals using a brief therapy model
• Demonstrated strong clinical and crisis management skills, including ability to work with high acuity students with complex mental health needs
• Experience facilitating psychotherapy and psycho-educational groups
• Experience designing and implementing multiculturally sensitive outreach programs and psychoeducational workshops
• Demonstrated knowledge, understanding, and stated commitment to diversity, inclusion and equity issues in the delivery of psychological services
• Demonstrated expertise with developmental and mental health issues of late adolescence

SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
• Valid California license in good standing in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor.
• Selected candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment criminal history background check and a pre-hire credentialing check.
• Ability to work long periods of time at a computer with or without accommodation.
• If working a hybrid work schedule, days of the week and number of days to be determined, must be able to fulfill requirements of the UCSC telecommuting agreement.
• Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as directed.
• Selected candidate will be required to take a TB test within 60 days of hire.
vSelected Candidate will be required to take HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accessibility) training within 30 days of hire.
• Selected candidate will be required to complete training within established time frames as directed including UC compliance training.
