Speech Language Pathologist

They are looking to find a Speech Language Pathologist to join their growing team. This candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to an organization serving children with developmental delays and disabilities, adults with cognitive and intellectual disabilities, and veterans in need of employment assistance or who are homeless.

What You’ll Be Doing
•  Perform intervention and evaluation activities for children birth to 3 in home, or other environment
•  Provide clinic-based evaluations for children not enrolled in Early Intervention, as needed.
•  Write timely and complete evaluation reports, IFSP goals, progress notes, correspondence and other documentation needed to provide high quality services and meet state and company requirements
•  Create strategies based on family priorities that are measurable and meaningful
•  Effectively communicate test results, diagnosis, and proposed strategies that are functional for the child’s and family’s life and are approached in a Primary Service provider model
•  Collaborate with staff to implement IFSPs. Shares knowledge and resources that enhance children’s developmental progress
•   Provide families and service providers information about proper techniques to assist with speech/language activities at home that supports the child and family’s participation
•  Implement the Primary Service Provider Model for children enrolled in Early Intervention
•  Participate in Trans disciplinary team for Early Intervention caseload as a developmental expert and resource to peers
•  Use correct CPT coding and non-coding based on billing hierarchy
•  Manage schedule to accommodate client schedules and meet billable client service hours set by the department (50%-62% of FTE)
•  Is culturally responsive and competent in working with a diverse population and range of communication delays/disorders including Autism Spectrum Disorder
•  Assist team members in advocating for the needs of the individual customer both within the agency and externally.
•  Potentially supervise graduate students or clinical fellows
•  Perform other clinical or administrative duties as assigned by clinical director

Skills

What You’ll Bring:
•  Master’s degree in communication Disorders or related field.
•  Licensure to practice speech/language therapy in the state of Colorado
•  Two years of experience in treating infants, toddlers, and young children with developmental delays
•  Experience in evaluating and treating young children with autism
•  Valid driver license, Proof of motor vehicle insurance, personal vehicle in good operating condition, and no major violations in the past three years
•  Basic computer skills, including word processing
•  Knowledge of Early Intervention systems at local, state, and national levels
•  Ability to understand the needs of a range of disabilities
•  Knowledge of human behavior and performance, and individual differences in ability, personality, and interests
•  Knowledge of communication development in infants and young children
•  Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of communication dysfunctions
•  Skill in giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, and asking appropriate questions
•  Knowledge and understanding of American Speech-Language-Hearing Association standards of practice in management of communicative disorders
