Description Position Summary: The Nurse Practitioner medical provider is responsible for evaluating and treating patients under the general supervision of the Medical Director. The role operates out of the Blue Shield of California Promise Health Plan clinics located in Palmdale and Lancaster (Antelope Valley). Understands and abides by all departmental policies and procedures as well as the organization’s Standards of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program. Participates actively in ensuring that all state and federal rules and regulations are followed as they apply to this position. Abides by all applicable laws and regulations as mandated by state and federal laws and prevents being excluded or sanctioned from any state and/or federal programs as they pertain to healthcare. Specific Responsibilities Include:
Evaluate and treat clinic patients
Perform minor surgical procedures Write necessary prescriptions Evaluate x-rays Women’s health, pediatric care, family medicine and urgent care Maintain excellent chart documentation Perform patient follow up Maintain a neat and organized personal work area Know and follow all procedures for any real or simulated emergency Other duties as assigned Qualifications
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:
Active California Nurse Practitioner license Minimum 3 years direct patient care experience Strong clinical assessment skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, English proficiency required Ability to work independently A valid California Driver’s License and proof of auto insurance is required Preferences: Experience working with patients in emergency medicine preferred Experience working with Medi-Cal and/or Medicare populations Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, NCQA guidelines preferred Fluency in Spanish is preferred Knowledge and past application of continuous quality improvement methodologies Physical Requirements Office Environment - roles involving part to full time schedule in Office Environment.
