Skills

•        We are a level 1 nursery but do keep babies down to 34 weeks and can keep babies on CPAP and NOWS treatments etc- so we are close to a level 2 nursery. Delivery room resuscitation skills are a must. For pediatrics we can admit patients to our adult ICU if they need telemetry, but we do not keep kids that need true ICU level care. Our ED does rely on us to help them stabilize and help transfer critically sick kids. We are a level 2 trauma center.
•        We have 1 peds hospitalist on at a time, can call in for support if there is an extremely premature baby at your discretion. Our NICU transport team is about 1 hr away and peds transports are 1.5 hrs away. We have anesthesia here and they have assisted us with lines and intubations when needed. There are no peds subspecialists available, other than by phone consult. We work closely with Randall Children’s Hospital for PICU and subspecialty care, as well as OHSU- both are in Portland.
