We have a rewarding locum tenens opportunity for a skilled Obstetrics and Gynecology physician near Barnardsville, North Carolina. This position is designed to provide both inpatient and outpatient care, along with call responsibilities, for a well-supported team of medical professionals in a community hospital setting. Position Overview:



  • Specialty: Obstetrics and Gynecology

  • Location: Near Barnardsville, North Carolina

  • Assignment Dates:

    • November 27, 2024, 7 am - December 1, 2024, 7 am

    • December 20, 2024, 5 pm - December 23, 2024, 7 am

    • December 31, 2024, 7 am - January 3, 2025, 7 am



  • Facility Setting: Both inpatient and outpatient coverage, with call responsibilities


Role Highlights:



  • Patient Volume:

    • 4-6 patients per shift in the hospital

    • Up to 15 patients per shift in the clinic



  • Call Requirements:

    • Call response time: 30 minutes

    • Beeper call, with 4-6 patient visits during call periods

    • 100% callback rate with 4 admissions expected per call period



  • Practice Setting: Clinic and call coverage on weekdays, weekend call coverage only, with midwife support on weekdays


Responsibilities:



  • Delivery and Surgical Requirements:

    • 50 deliveries, including 12 cesareans, within the last 12 months

    • 25 gynecological surgeries, with at least 5 major abdominal or vaginal surgeries

    • Competency in handling low and high-risk pregnancies, cesareans, VBAC, breech, and multiple births

    • Proficiency in routine and complex OB/GYN procedures, such as amniocentesis, low-forceps delivery, and cesarean decision-making

    • Experience with gynecological surgeries, including cystectomies, ovary removals, ectopic pregnancy management, and laparoscopic minor procedures




Requirements:



  • Board Certification: Board certified or eligible in Obstetrics and Gynecology

  • Certifications: ACLS required; intermediate fetal monitoring certification preferred

  • Licensure: Must hold or be eligible for an active North Carolina license

  • Experience: Minimum recent procedural requirements as listed above

  • EMR Systems: Familiarity with McKesson and Athena is a plus


Support Structure:



  • Staffing: Includes RNs, CMAs, and midwives to assist during shifts

  • Hospital Beds: 15-bed OB/GYN unit with full support for inpatient needs

  • Call Support: Midwife assistance for weekday calls; physician-only weekend call coverage


Additional Details:



  • Credentialing: Estimated 90-day process, with temporary privileges available for candidates with clean malpractice history

  • Travel and Lodging: Covered travel expenses, with nearby accommodations in Dillsboro, NC
