Position Highlights:

• Location: Southwest Oklahoma, near Altus


• Position Type: Locum Tenens Emergency Medicine Physician


• Setting: Outpatient Emergency Department, with scheduled clinical hours only


• Patient Volume: Approximately 27-28 patients per shift


• Facility Size: 11 beds in the emergency department


• Start Date: November 23, 2024


• End Date: Ongoing (with possible transition to permanent role)

Schedule & Coverage:

• Shifts: 24-hour physician coverage with 12-hour shifts, plus 10 hours of Advanced Practice Provider (APP) coverage daily


• Holiday Coverage: Required for major holidays, including New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas


• Specialty Support: Includes 24/7 lab, radiology, and surgery support services (cardio-thoracic, general, orthopedic, vascular)


• Admissions: No inpatient admission duties required

Requirements:

• Licensing: Must be licensed in Oklahoma


• Certifications: ACLS, ATLS, and PALS required for primary care-trained physicians; EM-trained physicians exempt from certification


• Board Certification: Board eligibility or certification in Emergency Medicine required


• Credentialing Timeframe: Estimated 30-60 days for a clean application


• Privileges: Hospital/surgery center privileges are required; temporary privileges available

• Emergency Department Volume: 20,000 annual visits
