We are seeking a dedicated Locum Tenens General Surgeon to provide ongoing support for a facility near Brooklyn, Iowa. This opportunity involves both clinic hours and surgical call coverage, with a variety of cases in both outpatient and inpatient settings. Position Details:

Location: Near Brooklyn, IA

Start Date: December 1, 2024

Schedule:
- Clinic Days: Tuesday & Thursday, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- Operating Room: Monday & Wednesday, 7:00 AM – up to 3:00 PM, depending on volume
- Call Coverage: 10 days of 24-hour call coverage per month

Patient Volume: Approximately 20-25 patients per clinic shift

Facility Requirements:

Practice Setting: Both inpatient and outpatient

Admissions Required: No

EMR System: MediTech / Athena

Privileges: Temporary privileges are available for quick onboarding

Board Certification: Candidates must be board-eligible, but board certification is not required

Skills & Procedures:

This position encompasses a comprehensive range of general surgery procedures, including but not limited to:

General Surgery: Appendectomies, cholecystectomies, and hernioplasties

Vascular Surgery: Peripheral vascular repairs and bypasses

Pediatric Procedures: Hernia repairs, abdominal wall defect repairs

Trauma Procedures: Thoracic, abdominal, and vascular trauma management

Additional Surgical Skills: Laparoscopic surgery, upper and lower GI endoscopies, minor orthopedic procedures, chest tube insertion, and ventilation management

Certification Requirements:

Licensure: Must hold an active IA license or qualify for an Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC)

Certifications: ABLS, ACLS, and BLS
