Description

Bangor, Maine: A respected 400-bed regional medical center seeks a fellowship-trained Adult Reconstructive Orthopedic Surgeon to join its hospital-employed team in Maine’s third largest city. The greatest need is for hip and joint replacements, and your subspecialty interests will also be supported. This is an equal opportunity employer.

Their Level II trauma center offers state-of-the-art operating theaters, dedicated OR block time, and a comprehensive orthopedic trauma program. This physician-led, nonprofit medical center is part of Maine’s second-largest health system – financially stable, with an excellent referral and specialist network. Maine’s second largest hospital serves more than 500,000 residents across northern and eastern Maine and is home to an unopposed Family Medicine Residency, offering teaching opportunities for interested physicians.

Join a collegial team of four orthopedic surgeons with subspecialties in arthroplasty, foot & ankle, shoulder, and sports medicine, supported by five experienced PAs, dedicated nursing and OR staff, and advanced imaging and rehab services. The department features on-site MRI and X-ray, 3-D imaging, and block time in both hospital and ambulatory OR settings. Orthopedic subspecialists in non-operative sports medicine, oncology/MSK, and physiatry are available for collaborative care. Additional patient support includes physical therapy, occupational therapy, rehab, and wound care.

Enjoy a comfortable weekday schedule (mix of clinic and OR time). Call is shared 1:4, limited to the practice only – so, no ED call – and the PAs take first call. The joint-replacement program is certified as a Center of Excellence in Arthroplasty. Qualified candidates may apply to serve as Medical Director of this program.
