Medix is partnering with a prominent healthcare system in Alabama, to secure 8 Psychiatrists to support their clinical team. In this role, you will act as a vital clinician providing a full range of psychiatric services to a diverse patient population, with a heavy focus on veteran-centered care.

This position offers a dynamic split between direct patient care (90%) and administrative/supervisory duties (10%), including the education and mentorship of Health Professions Trainees. You will work within an integrated team of psychologists, social workers, and primary care providers to deliver high-quality, recovery-oriented care.

Facility Type: VA Hospital / Outpatient Clinic
Start Date: As soon as credentialed
Length of Assignment: 2000 hours
Schedule: Monday–Friday (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM) plus on-call rotation
State License Needed: Any active U.S. State License

Skills

Responsibilities
--> Provide a full range of psychiatric services, including inpatient ward management, admissions, and diagnostic evaluations.
--> Evaluate new outpatient referrals and manage treatment plans for severely mentally ill patients.
--> Conduct post-discharge follow-up appointments and provide comprehensive patient education.
--> Provide phone consultations within 15 minutes and on-site emergency response within 60 minutes during off-hours.
--> Supervise and provide didactic teaching for residents and interns, evaluating their professional development.
--> Participate in monthly prescriber meetings and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.
--> Ensure all clinical documentation complies with HIPAA, The Joint Commission, and VHA Directives.

Required Skills & Qualifications
--> Education: Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution.
--> Training: Completion of an ACGME-accredited residency program in psychiatry.
--> Board Status: Board Certified or Board Eligible by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN).
--> Licensure: Current, full, and unrestricted medical license in any U.S. State, Territory, or District.
--> Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications; valid DEA registration.
--> Technical Skills: Proficiency in Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and advanced knowledge of psychopharmacology.
--> Traits: Strong interdisciplinary collaboration skills and a "person-first" approach to veteran care.
