Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric patients diagnosed with various cancers, including endometrial, bladder, renal, ovarian, and cervical cancers.
- Administer chemotherapy and monitor patients closely for adverse reactions, ensuring safety and comfort.
- Assist with clinical trials, data collection, and documentation to support innovative cancer treatments.
- Perform specialized procedures such as brachytherapy and CBI, adhering to safety protocols.
- Implement and monitor infection prevention strategies and patient fall management protocols.
- Interpret telemetry readings, recognize dysrhythmias, and respond promptly to changes in patient condition.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams and utilize rapid response resources.
- Manage feeding tubes, IV therapies, blood product administration, and central line maintenance.
- Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately using EPIC electronic health records.
Required Skills:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license with a minimum of 2 years in Med Surg/Telemetry nursing.
- Current BLS certification.
- Proficiency in oncology care, including chemotherapy administration and brachytherapy.
- Strong telemetry skills, with the ability to interpret and act on dysrhythmias.
- Excellent communication and teamwork capabilities.
- Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Nice to Have Skills:
- Certification in Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy.
- Experience with clinical trial procedures.
- Bilingual abilities or additional language skills.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) or higher preferred.
- Prior experience in oncology units with exposure to complex treatment protocols.
Other Requirements:
- Availability for 12-hour night shifts, 19:00 - 07:30, with rotating schedules including days, nights, or a combination.
- Flexibility to work variable weekends based on unit needs.
- Ability to adapt to changing staffing assignments and self-schedule when possible.
- Required vaccinations and adherence to institutional safety policies.
