We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse for our Progressive Care Unit (PCU) to provide exceptional nursing care to patients with complex medical needs. Required Skills
- Valid RN license with a minimum of 2 years of recent acute care experience
- Proficiency in managing respiratory failure, sepsis, stroke, DKA, post-heart cath, and post-arteriogram/angio patients
- Ability to pass an EKG competency exam
- Certification in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Demonstrated competency in CVL placement/management, Foley catheter management, tube feedings (NGT or PEG), arterial line management, and diabetes care
- Experience with drip titration of medications such as Levophed, Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Insulin
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and patient monitoring skills
Nice to Have Skills
- Experience working in stroke or med-surg units
- Familiarity with Meditech Expanse EMR system
- Previous experience with PICC/midline placement
- Ability to adapt to floating between units, including stroke and medical-surgical units
- Bilingual abilities or additional certifications related to critical care
Preferred Education and Experience
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN preferred)
- At least 2 years of recent hospital-based RN experience in acute care settings
Other Requirements
- Ability to work scheduled 4-day and 3-day week rotations, including every other weekend
- Flexibility to work 2/3 major holidays
- Must be separated from previous employment for at least 1 year if a previous permanent staff RN
- Travel and lodging reimbursements may apply
- Required to comply with uniform policies (Pewter scrubs, gray/white/black T-shirts, gray or black jackets, badges worn above the waist)
- No on-call duties; scheduled shifts only
- Maintain professionalism by adhering to patient care conduct policies, including no cell phone usage in patient areas and proper badge visibility
- Additional certifications or travel reimbursements are a plus
