Description

We are seeking a skilled Cardiovascular & Thoracic Physician Assistant for a 90-day assignment in Indiana, commencing May 11, 2026. This role involves daily inpatient rounding, managing new consults, facilitating patient discharges, and significant operating room duties including EVH and first assisting on cases. The schedule includes 7am-4:30pm shifts with on-call responsibilities starting at 4:30pm, focusing on cardiac, thoracic, vascular, and heart failure procedures at a Trauma facility.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Perform daily rounding on inpatients across ICU and stepdown units
  • Manage new consultations and facilitate patient discharges
  • Execute operating room duties, including EVH hemapro 2, open vein harvest, and first assisting on various cases
  • Provide training to new Advanced Practice Providers on EVH
  • Participate in emergency OR call
  • Handle patient management calls, ER consultations, and transfers from other hospitals
  • Address a diverse range of cases across cardiac, thoracic, vascular, and heart failure procedures, including advanced surgeries like CAB, valves, aortic dissections, robotic thoracic surgeries, VATs, thoracotomies, lobectomies, wedge resections, CEA, AAA, leg revascularizations, LVAD, ECMO, and impellas
  • Manage an average of 8-10 inpatient encounters per shift


Additional Information

  • EMR: Cerner
  • Requires significant cardiothoracic experience, with Physician Assistants specifically needing proficiency in EVH
  • Work will be performed at a Trauma facility
