Basic FunctionResponsible for the facility Risk Management program, functioning under the direction of the Facility Administrator. ? Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities - Essential Functions: Understands facility policies and procedures as well as state and federal regulations. Has knowledge and understanding of resident assessment, care planning, and quality indicators to identify “at-risk” residents and evaluate appropriate interventions. • Assists with the education of staff regarding the facility Risk Management program. • Plans, develops, organizes, evaluates, and directs the facility safety programs, including evaluating and establishing safety objectives. Maintains a current knowledge base of all OSHA regulations pertaining to healthcare organizations. Supervises completion of OHSA logs and maintains a working knowledge of the OSHA standards regarding blood-borne pathogens. • Coordinates and monitors all Workers Compensation programs, including review and timely submission of all injury reports and follow-up review. • Assists with identification of current resident “at-risk” population. Performs routine chart audits to analyze and identify areas of improvement. Uses this information to structure and accomplish targeted staff training as indicated. Actively participates in resident care review meetings, review of 24-hour reports, safety, and risk/quality assurance committee meetings. Utilizes these meetings to identify “at-risk” situations, trends in performance or behavior and adjusts educational programs accordingly. Prepares written weekly “Risk Management Report” designed to identify risks and report on preventive action plans. Reviews with the Administrator and establishes goals. Serves as a liaison with the Director of Nursing to ensure nursing department involvement of risks identified and awareness of goals set for quality improvement. Provides additional statistical information related to quality assurance, risk management, and education as requested by the company, Insurance carriers, workers compensation, or any other companies/consultants approved by the company. Responsible for claims management in conjunction with an appropriate outside resource. Section 1 | 5 Summit Care 11/2013 Investigates and reviews all incident reports, creates incident logs, and uses them to identify trends, patterns. Outlines proactive measures to address these concerns. Investigates and reports adverse incidents and allegations of abuse with required follow-up to required agencies. Investigates allegations of sexual misconduct. ?
