Emergency Medicine Physician (Locum Tenens) Location: Southport, North CarolinaPosition Summary: A community-focused hospital in coastal North Carolina is seeking a Board-Certified Emergency Medicine Physician for an ongoing locum tenens assignment. This opportunity offers a collaborative environment within a Level IV Trauma Center, ideal for providers who enjoy a lower-volume setting with a broad scope of care. Assignment Details: Start Date: June/July 2026 Contract Length: 6 months to start, with potential for extension Schedule: 6–8 shifts per month 12-hour shifts Days or nights available (based on provider preference) Practice Setting: Level IV Trauma Center 9 ED patient rooms + 5 vertical care chairs Patient Care Unit for acute and chronic conditions (no traditional ICU) EMR: E-Clinical Works Patient Volume: 1–2 patients per hour Key Responsibilities: Provide comprehensive emergency medical care across a range of patient needs Perform trauma care, respiratory and cardiac interventions, and standard ED procedures Deliver specialized forensic care when needed Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team in a community-based setting Qualifications: Board Certified in Emergency Medicine (ABEM) Active North Carolina medical license DEA certification required Current ACLS, BLS, PALS, and ATLS certifications Compensation & Benefits: Competitive hourly rate: $300–$325/hour Mileage reimbursement provided Lodging available with prior approval (all-inclusive options may be considered based on provider needs) Additional Information: Potential for ongoing coverage beyond the initial assignment Ideal candidate is adaptable, flexible, and comfortable in a lower-volume emergency department
Skills
Qualifications: 3+ years of experience in Emergency Medicine. Board Certified in Emergency Medicine (ABEM) Active North Carolina medical license DEA certification required Current ACLS, BLS, PALS, and ATLS certifications
