Overview:
A hospital-based opportunity is available for an experienced Nurse Practitioner with cardiothoracic surgery expertise. This role includes first assisting in the operating room as well as providing inpatient care across telemetry and ICU settings. The ideal candidate is highly skilled in cardiothoracic procedures and able to support surgeons in a fast-paced environment.

Daily call - $1500 includes 4 hour gratis
Call-back - $220/hr after 4 hours
Orientation $110/hr
Holiday 1.5x regular rate

Assignment Dates:
May 31 – June 13, 2026
June 6 – 8, 2026 (critical coverage)
July 20 – 26, 2026

Schedule:
One weekend per month (Friday 7:00 AM – Monday 7:00 AM)
1–2 call days per week
Ongoing vacation/PTO coverage

Practice Details:
Setting: Inpatient and Operating Room
EMR: Epic
Role provides direct support to cardiothoracic surgeons

Responsibilities:
First assist in cardiothoracic surgeries
Inpatient rounding and patient management
ICU and telemetry coverage
Perform procedures including:
Vein harvesting
Chest tube placement

Required Experience & Skills:

Proficiency in:
CABG
Aortic Valve Replacement (AVR)
Mitral Valve Replacement (MVR)
Thoracotomy and lung resection procedures
Strong procedural and surgical assisting experience

Requirements:
Board Certified Physician Assistant – Required
Active Kentucky License – Required
DEA – Required
ACLS & BLS – Required
Clean malpractice history – Preferred
NPDB Self-Query (within 30 days) – Required
Availability provided at time of presentation – Preferred
