Position Overview

Inhospital Physicians is actively recruiting Emergency Medicine physicians for St. Mary’s Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. This is a community-based Emergency Department offering a strong team environment, manageable patient volume, and the opportunity to practice high-quality medicine without the chaos of large academic centers.

This role is ideal for physicians seeking stability, autonomy, and a collegial culture while maintaining exposure to meaningful clinical cases.

Position Highlights
1099 independent contractor position
12-hour shifts
Full-time: 120 hours per month
Competitive hourly compensation

Clinical Environment
~54 patients per day
Cath lab available
Common Case Types
Cardiac conditions
Sepsis
Stroke
Respiratory illness
Gastrointestinal complaints
Staffing Model
1 Emergency Medicine physician on shift
2 APPs during the day
1 physician coverage overnight
Admissions managed by hospitalist team
Support & Resources
EMR: Epic with Dragon dictation

Anesthesia support:
Practice Environment
Community hospital setting with a small team feel
Long-tenured, collegial medical staff
Strong nursing and administrative support
Efficient transfer system for subspecialty care when needed
Candidate Requirements
Board Certified / Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine (ABEM preferred)
Will consider ABFM with 2+ years of Emergency Medicine experience or EM fellowship training
Active or eligible for Missouri medical license
Comfortable with moderate acuity and transfer workflows
