Description
• Assist the Sheriff’s office with developing and implementing policies that assure high quality medical and nursing care. • Chronic care, Convalescent care, and monthly and annual reports • Determine the type of equipment and supplies necessary to equip the jail first aid kits, the number, location and procedure for periodic inspection. • Provide at least one doctor at the Jail five days a week for a minimum of three hours beginning at 8:30 a.m. on each of these days for normal sick call and or as necessary to maintain medical accreditation standards. A physician’s assistant may be utilized at times to fill in for vacation or sick time as agreed upon by the Sheriff or his designee. • At the request of jail command staff or medical supervisor, an additional day of sick call may be requested during periods of high population. • Act as direct liaison between jail medical staff and an inmate’s primary care physician and direct coordination of care. • The medical supervisor shall attend all jail medical meetings. Medical supervisor shall work on-site and shall present for any inspections related to medical services provided in the Jail.
