POSITION TITLE: Telehealth Nurse (RN/NP)EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Independent Contractor (1099 NEC) LOCATION: Remote (Nationwide) ORGANIZATION: OpenTelemed Services LLC EXECUTIVE SUMMARY OpenTelemed Services LLC is seeking qualified and compassionate Telehealth Nurses (Registered Nurses and Nurse Practitioners) to join our growing nationwide telehealth platform. This is an excellent opportunity for licensed healthcare professionals to expand their practice reach, maintain flexibility, and provide high-quality virtual care to patients across the United States. As an independent contractor, you will have the autonomy to manage your patient load while receiving comprehensive support including insurance credentialing, EMR access, billing support, and collaborative physician oversight. POSITION OVERVIEW As a Telehealth Nurse with OpenTelemed Services, you will deliver comprehensive virtual healthcare services to 200-500 patients per month through our secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform. This role offers the flexibility to manage your own schedule while providing evidence-based clinical care across multiple specialties and patient populations. You will work collaboratively with our physician partners, utilize our integrated EMR system, and receive full administrative support to focus on patient care delivery. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Primary Clinical Duties Patient Assessment & Care Delivery: Conduct comprehensive virtual consultations, assessments, and evaluations using video and audio-based communication technologies Service Delivery Across Specialties: Provide telehealth nursing services including but not limited to: Preventive Health Services: Health screenings, wellness consultations, preventive care counseling Family Medicine Visits: Routine family health management and general practitioner services Routine Checkups & Physical Exams: Virtual comprehensive health evaluations Pre-Operative Consultations: Pre-surgical assessments, clearances, and patient preparation Post-Operative Care & Monitoring: Post-surgical follow-ups, wound assessment, recovery monitoring Remote Patient Monitoring: Chronic disease management (hypertension, diabetes, heart failure, COPD) with connected health devices Mental Health Services: Psychiatric and behavioral health consultations, symptom assessment, and treatment coordination Patient Education: Health promotion, disease management education, medication counseling, and lifestyle modification guidance Specialty-Specific Services: Additional services based on your professional expertise and credentials Clinical Documentation: Maintain detailed, accurate, and compliant electronic medical records (EMR) for all patient encounters, ensuring proper documentation standards for billing and clinical continuity Treatment Planning & Prescribing: Develop evidence-based treatment plans, issue prescriptions within your scope of practice, and ensure compliance with state-specific telehealth prescribing regulations Collaborative Care: Work effectively with supervising or collaborative physicians as required by state regulations and patient complexity; escalate cases appropriately Patient Safety & Clinical Judgment: Exercise clinical judgment to determine appropriateness of telehealth services; recommend in-person evaluations when necessary and document clinical reasoning Remote Patient Monitoring Experience: Experience managing patients with connected health monitoring devices or chronic disease management programs Multi-Specialty Background: Diverse clinical background spanning multiple nursing specialties or care settings Provider Network Navigation: Familiarity with insurance panels, credentialing processes, and payer requirements Patient Education Skills: Demonstrated ability to educate patients on health management, medication compliance, and lifestyle modifications Spanish or Other Language Proficiency: Bilingual capabilities (Spanish, Mandarin, or other languages) are a plus for serving diverse patient populations SCOPE OF PRACTICE CONSIDERATIONS Nurse Practitioners (NPs) Practice independently or collaboratively depending on state scope of practice laws (Full Practice Authority vs. restricted practice states) May assess, diagnose, and prescribe medications within their specialty and state regulations Responsibility for clinical decision-making and patient outcomes Prescriptive authority and controlled substance restrictions vary by state; applicant must ensure compliance with patient state regulations Registered Nurses (RNs) Perform patient assessments, care coordination, and telehealth services under physician supervision or protocol Follow established clinical protocols and escalate complex cases to supervising physicians or NPs Provide patient education, health coaching, and remote monitoring Support preventive care, routine health management, and patient education initiatives
