Registered Nurse - Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)

In this pivotal role, you will deliver specialized nursing care to children with complex diagnoses including MS, DKA, Sepsis, Respiratory Failure, and Neuro conditions. Your responsibilities will encompass managing high-acuity patients, titrating medications such as pressors, insulin, and sedation agents, and performing advanced skills including phlebotomy, CVL care, and wound management. With a patient ratio of 1:2 and a supportive team including resource nurses, intensivists, and hospitalists available 24/7, you'll have the resources needed to excel. Flexibility to float to Adult ICU and Med/Tele units is highly valued, with orientation provided to ensure confidence in all settings.
Required Skills:
- Minimum of 2 years PICU experience, with cross-training in Adult ICU and Med/Tele preferred
- Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS certification; NRP preferred
- Proficient in PIV, CVL insertion, telemetry monitoring, wound care, and titration of critical medications
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and patient management skills
- Ability to pass an EKG competency exam prior to start
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
Nice to Have Skills:
- Experience in Neuro, Orthopedics, or post-surgical care
- Prior travel nurse experience
- Familiarity with Meditech Expanse EMR and Alaris infusion pumps
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Registered Nurse licensed in applicable state
- At least 2 years of recent PICU experience, with additional experience in adult ICU or stepdown settings considered a plus
- Cross-trained in adult critical care areas
Other Requirements:
- Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19
- Ability to work a 4/3 schedule, including every other weekend and 2-3 holidays
- Flexible to work 4 days one week and 3 days the next, with mandatory weekend rotations
- Scrub color: Pewter; badges worn above the waist at all times

- Must commit to primary assignment and participate in hospital orientation and unit shifts
