Job Overview
AIMS Locum Tenens is seeking a skilled Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) to provide outpatient OB/GYN care at a Medical Center in Portsmouth. The CNM will manage prenatal visits, postpartum assessments, gynecological exams, family planning consultations, and women’s health screenings.
This position focuses strictly on outpatient services and does not include labor or delivery coverage. The CNM will work collaboratively with OB/GYN physicians, nurses, and clinical support staff to deliver high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
General Duties
Provide services within the scope of practice as a Certified Nurse Midwife
Collaborate with OB/GYN physicians and multidisciplinary healthcare teams
Accurately document patient care in electronic health record systems
Participate in performance improvement initiatives and continuing education
Maintain patient safety, infection control, and confidentiality standards
Clinical Duties
Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and physical examinations
Provide routine prenatal and postpartum care
Perform gynecological exams including Pap smears and breast exams
Educate patients on reproductive health, contraception, and preventive care
Order and interpret laboratory tests and diagnostic studies
Prescribe medications in accordance with scope of practice
Refer patients to OB/GYN physicians or specialists when appropriate
Counsel patients and families regarding pregnancy, birth control, and women’s health
Provide coverage for other outpatient OB/GYN services as needed

Qualifications
Education
Master’s degree or higher in Nursing or Midwifery
Graduate of a Certified Nurse Midwife program accredited by ACME or an equivalent accrediting body
Certification
Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) – American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB)
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Experience
Minimum 1 year of recent CNM or women’s health experience in an outpatient OB/GYN setting
Licensure
Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license
Valid Nurse Midwife license in any U.S. state or territory
Skills
Proficiency in prenatal and gynecological examinations
Strong knowledge of contraception, family planning, and postpartum care
Ability to independently manage routine OB/GYN cases
Effective communication and patient education skills
Experience using EHR systems such as MHS Genesis preferred
