Key Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a hospital clinical laboratory setting
- Proficiency in macroscopic description of gross anatomic features
- Experience performing gross examination and dissection of large/complex specimens, as well as small biopsies
- Skilled in tissue preparation, histological processing, and sectioning of surgical pathology specimens
- Knowledge of specimen fixation, receipt, labeling, and evisceration techniques
- Ability to obtain/review patient clinical information, including scans, x-rays, and lab results
- Experience with tumor triage and adult/fetal autopsies
- Certification: ASCP-PA preferred
Nice to Have Skills:
- Experience in specimen accessioning
- Ability to cut and stain frozen sections
- Postmortem examination expertise, including removal of brain and spinal cord
- Skills in gross/microscopic photography
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or higher; Masters degree preferred
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in a clinical pathology setting
Other Requirements:
- Travel experience preferred; local candidates accepted
- No call, weekend, or float requirements
- Ability to work the Day shift (12:00 PM – 8:30 PM), 5 days a week
- Willingness to undertake a 16-week contract
- Successful completion of hospital and unit orientation, including 8 hours of Epic system training
- Valid licensure, certifications, and compliance with travel and reimbursement policies
