Job Description:
St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital (Mercy Health) is seeking a Board-Certified Neurosurgeon for 24-hour call coverage one week per month, starting August 27, 2025, with ongoing needs. This is a high-acuity, Level 1 Trauma Center environment focused on urgent and emergent neurosurgical care.
Job ResponsibilitiesNeed-to-Know:
• 24-hour call coverage at a busy Level 1 Trauma Center
• Urgent/emergent neurosurgical case mix
• Supported by an employed and an affiliated neurosurgeon, trauma team, and Neuro-IR
Position Details:
• Setting: Inpatient only, ED-driven surgical consults
• Schedule: 24-hour call (8a–8a), 7-day blocks, 1 week/month
• EMR: Epic
• Trauma Level: I
• Population: Adult/Geriatric
Qualifications Requirements:
• Board Certified in Neurosurgery
• Active OH license or IMLC-ready
• BLS/ACLS
• Must be available for Aug 27–Sept 3 block Compensation & Coverage:
• Highly competitive call + call-back rates
• Full travel and lodging provided
Skills Common Cases:
• Trauma Neurosurgery
• Hemorrhage control (e.g., brain bleeds, clot removal)
• Tumor resections
• Spine stabilization, fusion, laminectomy, discectomy
• Shunt procedures
• Vertebroplasty/Kyphoplasty
