Our client in Maryland is seeking a Critical Care Medicine Nurse Practitioner for an impactful 30-day assignment starting August 17, 2026. This vital role involves providing 12-hour independent night ICU coverage from 7pm to 7am, managing a diverse mixed ICU unit with a focus on medical and some surgical patients, and ensuring comprehensive patient care throughout the night.
Responsibilities and Duties - Manage a mixed ICU, primarily handling medical patients with some surgical cases, including carotids, aneurysms, breast flaps, and sick general surgery patients.
- Maintain an average census of 5 patients, with potential to manage up to 10 patients on the high end.
- Consult with the step-down unit, which is managed separately.
- Operate as the sole advanced practice provider on the unit, with a physician on call who generally will not need to return to the facility at night.
- Perform A-line and C-line placements.
- Intubation and chest tube placements are a plus, but not required, as anesthesia is in-house at night.
- Care for a large population of elderly and palliative care patients, due to the community served.
