AIRLIFE provides unique services to a large rural area in addition to providing critical care transport services to the Denver metropolitan area. Rural constituents have limited access to specialized services. The rapid access and critical care services provided by AIRLIFE during transport to higher levels of care have significantly improved patient outcomes for the rural communities. The AIRLIFE team thrives on providing innovative technology, skill, and service to their patients. AIRLIFE continues their mission to meet the needs of the community and the region.
AIRLIFE serves a ten-state region including Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Nebraska, Kansas, New Mexico, Utah, Arizona, Texas and South Dakota .Helicopter transports achieve a 150-mile radius from our various bases, while fixed wing aircraft enable AirLife crews to transport up to a 500-miles. Air ambulance licensure is maintained in both Colorado and Wyoming, which are home to our operational and crew bases.
Here is some of what you can expect from being an AirLife Flight Registered Nurse – with us:
- The critical care transport nurse demonstrates
advanced knowledge, skills and understands the unique aspects of the population served in the care of his/her patients. - Each service also requires specialized skills.
The delivery of care is based on the physical, psychosocial, cultural, safety and learning needs of the individual patient. - The RN may rotate to areas other than his/her
assigned service area/s, and will perform only those duties for which he/she has demonstrated competency. - The RN performs delegated duties consistent with
the scope of practice and functions within the philosophy and overall plan of care delivery at AirLife. - They utilize the experience, education and
training to independently deliver nursing care to critically ill and/or injured patients aboard a variety of fixed wing aircraft, rotor wing aircraft and ground ambulances. - Transports may be between medical facilities or
directly from the scene of an accident or illness. Assists with marketing activities of program. Supports research projects.
DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Safety
- The critical care transport RN demonstrates
awareness of and routinely practices safe work habits and adheres to the AirLife commitment to Safety. Adheres to current AirLife standards for clinical competence. - Coordinates all aspects of patient care with the
interdisciplinary team, including students when appropriate. - Responsible for critical care transport
knowledge base including flight physiology, flight stressors and safety for all modes of transport and all environments. - Responsible for survival training and skills for
environmental extremes. - Performs other duties as assigned.
Practice
- Delivers care in accordance with established
standards of care/scope of practice. - Provides direct patient care.
- Documents care thoroughly, accurately, and
concisely and in a timely manner. - Maintains confidentiality of patients and
records in accordance with AirLife, Hospital and HIPAA policies and guidelines. - Must attend 80% of scheduled monthly staff
meetings. Review of any missed staff meeting must be completed within one month. Months with holidays on those dates FSM will be altered to different date and prior notification will be given to teams. - Professional Development/Self Growth.
- Must acquire program-defined number of
continuing education hours per year and designated number of clinical hours in designated categories. - Maintains proficiency in clinical skills
specific to critical care medicine and as defined in clinical skills. - Recognizes own strengths and weaknesses and
seeks help from appropriate sources as needed. - Takes initiative to share knowledge obtained
from online training, conferences and workshops. - Participates in AirLife committees as directed
by the Clinical Director, Chief Flight Nurse, Managers, and Medical Director/s. - Quality improvement
