The postpartum or mother-baby nurse is tasked with caring for both mother and newborn baby once a birth has taken place. This nurse utilizes a strong set of skills to recognize and act upon postpartum emergencies for both patients.
About this unit:
20 Bed Unit, with 1:3/4 Nurse/Patient Ratio
Working in a fast-paced, passionate, team-oriented environment, surrounded by a strong physician group.
Average of 1500 Deliveries Annually
Responsibilities:
Mother/Baby nurses care for the mother and baby couplet from delivery through dismissal from the hospital.
This population includes newborns and adolescent through middle-aged women (typically aged 14-50).
Mother/Baby nurses provide care using ongoing assessments, interventions and evaluation of interventions (i.e. the nursing process) and is responsible for the plan of care.
