Nurse Manager of Critical Care
Position Summary: To administer, analyze and appraise the care given to patients within the Critical Care Units. To advise the Department Director regarding the status of patient care, budgetary projections, quality improvement processes. To anticipate and estimate future needs of the Department to improve quality of patient care in accordance with the philosophy, goals, objectives and mission of LCMC. To collaborate and coordinate the efforts of nursing units to accomplish the mission of LCMC and works with Staffing Coordinator to provide effective staffing levels in all units.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Demonstrates advanced level of clinical skills and the ability to support others to achieve the delivery of quality care. Demonstrates interpersonal skills and competency in leadership, supervision and management of staff. Demonstrates excellent skills in planning, organizing and managing personnel resources in a cost effective and productive manner for the operational area of the nursing unit. Demonstrates knowledge and application of the nursing process. Participates and cooperates in the unit based Quality Improvement processes. Supports, maintains and provides an environment which is supportive of quality patient care through effective use of resources and personnel including assisting staff with patient care duties or caring for an individual team of patients. Practices, develops and endorses customer service skills in relationships with internal and external customers. Serves as the patient and family advocate with respect to the patient’s right to privacy by protecting confidential information. Participates in planning and implementing patient care and teaching based on a total assessment and the age of the patient. Coordinates educational opportunities with the department director on a monthly basis including but not limited to annual competencies. Demonstrates excellent skills in planning, organizing, and managing personnel resources in a cost effective and productive manner for the operation of the department. Develops and maintains department orientation schedule for all new employees including but not limited to precepting and evaluating each new employee on a bi-weekly basis.
Qualifications EDUCATION REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED:
BSN required or currently enrolled in BSN program
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
State of Florida RN License required
BLS required
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED OR PREFERRED:
Acute care experience required
Progressive management experience preferred
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:
Reads and writes Basic English with the basic skills necessary to transcribe physician’s orders
Knowledge of body substance isolation
Ability to listen, empathize and respond to patient, family, internal and external partners needs
Basic computer skills
