Required Skills:
- Certification as an MT, MLT, or MLS (ASCP, AMT, or equivalent)
- Proficiency in blood bank testing, including blood typing and crossmatching
- Strong venipuncture skills and experience performing various laboratory tests
- Knowledge of Laboratory Information Systems; Cerner experience preferred
- Ability to follow universal precautions and adhere to safety standards
- Excellent attention to detail, dependability, and responsibility
- Effective communication skills with staff, physicians, and patients
- Capable of troubleshooting chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, coagulation analyzers, and other lab instruments
- Ability to perform QC and equipment maintenance accurately
Nice to Have Skills:
- Prior blood bank experience
- Experience in serological/micro testing and microscopy
- Knowledge of new laboratory technologies and procedures
- Bilingual abilities to serve diverse patient populations
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field preferred
- At least 1 year of laboratory experience in a hospital or clinical setting
Other Requirements:
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts, rotating as necessary
- Per diem status with no guaranteed hours; flexibility is key
- Must be comfortable working in a Cerner EMR environment and wearing any color scrubs
- Willingness to comply with all applicable licensure, certification, and travel reimbursements, if applicable
