Seeking an Experienced Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner / PMHNP to join a great team in Maine! For more information reach out today! Qualifications - Possess Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing followed by a Master’s Degree in Psychiatric or Mental Health Nursing from an accredited school
- Licensed as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in the State of Maine
- Possess Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)
- Current CPR and ACLS Certification
- Must possess the ability to be credentialed and covered by FTCA Malpractice Coverage
- Must be able to work as part of an integrated team
- Must possess strong communications skills
- Must be possess a clean criminal and DHHS background
- Must be possess the ability and means to travel between clinics as needed
- Valid State of Maine Driver’s license and ability to be insured by company vehicle insurance carrier

Responsibilities - The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner will work with patients in providing outpatient community mental health services
- The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner will collaborate with the Primary Care Providers to recognize, treat and manage mental health and psychosocial issues while acting as a contributing member to the Integrated Primary Care Team
- Provides focused intervention for patients who are in need of mental health services
- Obtain a Mental Health history and diagnostic evaluation
- Interpret health data by identifying wellness and risk factors
- Evaluate, diagnose, intervene, and monitor neuropsychiatric problems
- Identify variations from norms
- Prescribe medication per the approved formulary based on licensure with the Maine Board of Nursing and current DEA registration
- Counseling individuals and families
- Consult and/or collaborate with other health care providers and community resources to influence care of patients and affect change in systems
- Initiates follow up to determine any changes in treatment approach and refer patients to other health care providers as appropriate
- Identify and provide for the education needs of the patient’s family members, considering age and culture
- Provide case management skills to coordinate comprehensive health services and ensure continuity of care
- Evaluate client progress in attaining expected outcomes
- Provides complete documentation of visit and the patients progress in the medical record
- Maintain up to date records and billing practices in a timely manner within protocols
- Works where indicated to effect behavioral changes in patients with or at risk for physical disorders
- Assist patients in need of developing daily and community living skills
- Provides patients with self management skills and education information needed so they can participate in their treatment
- Provides consultation with Management and other clinical team members about behavioral services and suggested areas of program evaluation
- Assists patients with complying with medical treatment such as offering strategies to cope with medication side effects or chronic pain
- Work closely with psychiatrists, psychologists, clinical social workers, psychiatric nurses and other mental health professionals
- Reports as required to the QI/QA Committee
- Perform other duties, projects as assigned by the Medical Director
