Locum Tenens Opportunity for Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant Near Sedona, AZ

We are seeking a Physician Assistant specialized in Cardiothoracic Surgery for a locum tenens role near Sedona, AZ. This position provides an excellent opportunity to work in a dynamic hospital setting with a structured schedule and no overnight call requirements.

Position Details:

• Specialty: Surgery Cardiothoracic


• Location: Near Sedona, AZ


• Schedule: ASAP - Ongoing


• Shift: Day shift, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM


• Coverage: Scheduled coverage plus on-call duties

Job Overview:

• Patient Volume: Manage 10-15 CVICU/step-down patients per day, and handle 1-2 surgeries daily.


• Patient Population: Primarily adult and geriatric patients.


• Department: Cardiothoracic Surgery


• Hospital Bed Size: 199 beds


• EMR System: Cerner


• Special Procedures: Experience in temporary pacemaker removal, chest tube removal, IABP removal, and A-line placement is essential.


• Skills Required: Recent experience in cardiothoracic surgery with proficiency in Endoscopic Vein Harvesting (EVH).

Requirements:

• Board Certification: Required


• Licensure: Must hold or be eligible for licensure as a Physician Assistant in Arizona.


• DEA: Required


• Minimum Experience: 3 years of experience in cardiothoracic surgery with expertise in EVH.

  • Graduation from a university program approved by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) or a Master’s Degree in Nursing.
  
  
  • Certification or eligibility for certification by the NCCPA.
  
  
  • For Nurse Practitioners: Completion of an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program, RN/NP First Assistant Program, and current unrestricted Arizona APRN license.
  
  
  • ACLS and BLS certifications (American Heart Association) are required.
