Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized neurohospitalist services for adult patients in an inpatient setting.
  
  
  • Manage a daily census of approximately 15 patients, focusing on neurology consults.
  
  
  • Respond to neuro consults within 24 hours, ensuring timely and effective care.

  Consultation and Rounding:

  
  
  
  
  • Conduct rounds in the Emergency Department (ED) and Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
  
  
  • Provide comprehensive neurological care and consultative services across various inpatient units.
  
  
  • Work closely with one Advanced Practice Provider (APP) available Monday through Friday to support patient care.

  • Participate in a 7 on/7 off call rotation, with 24-hour coverage during on-call weeks.
  
  
  • No responsibilities for responding to in-house codes or supervising other healthcare providers.
  
  
  • Neuro emergencies, including code stroke responses, are managed via teleneurology, allowing focus on consultative care.
  
  
  
  

Qualifications:

• Board Certification: Must be Board Certified in Neurology.


• Licensing: Must hold or be willing to obtain an active Virginia medical license.

• Experience: Prior experience as a Neurohospitalist is preferred but not mandatory.
