Position: PCU Registered Nurse
Shift: Day 3x12-Hour (07:00 - 19:30)

Job Description:
The PCU Registered Nurse will provide patient care on an 18-bed Oncology Telemetry unit specializing in medical oncology with progressive care beds and occasional pediatric patients. The unit handles high-acuity cases with a focus on infection control and patient safety. Prior oncology experience is preferred but not mandatory. Successful candidates should possess high acuity PCU experience, proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation, and familiarity with various clinical procedures including IV management, central line care, and rapid response protocols.
Scheduling and Orientation:
- Self-scheduling requests are encouraged, allowing nurses to specify their preferred schedules prior to finalizing staffing plans.
- Orientation includes a first-week Monday to Friday dayshift session, followed by 36 hours of on-unit training with a preceptor.
- Contract: 12-hour day shifts with potential rotation to night shifts depending on staffing needs; schedules are reviewed quarterly but not guaranteed.
- Weekend shifts may vary.
Unit Details and Equipment:
- 18J Oncology Telemetry Unit, with over 24 beds dedicated to PCU level care.
- Equipment used includes GE telemetry monitors, bladder scanners, Alaris pumps, Stryker beds, PCA pumps, and other infusion/monitoring devices.
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of oncology experience (preferred but not required).
- Certifications: Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS), ACLS, NIH.
- Must be able to float within units of similar or lower acuity.
- Previous travel experience is advantageous.
Skills:
- Dysrhythmia interpretation, IV and central line management, blood product administration.
- Use of medical equipment such as chest tubes, CPAP/BIPAP, HFNC, and external ventilators.
- Management of invasive procedures and protocols including Heparin drips, PCA, and blood transfusions.
- Tracheostomy management and ABG interpretation.
Preferred Skills:
- Dysrhythmia management, IV insulin protocols, chemotherapy administration, wound care, arterial line management, and non-invasive airway management.
