The Clinical Therapist provides therapeutic services to individuals and families. The Clinical Therapist performs mental status examinations, crisis management, individual, group and family work. This position involves frequent contact with consumers, program staff, MCH employees, community agencies, and visitors. This position requires a thorough understanding of and demonstrated competency in the Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) techniques developed by the Karen Purvis Institute of Child Development at Texas Christian University. The Clinical Therapist must possess strong organizational and leadership skills and exhibit the intellectual and emotional maturity required to work with youth and families who have behavioral issues and difficulty relating to others due to developmental delays, mental health needs and trauma. This position requires compassionate respect and understanding for individuals who have experienced complex trauma and the ability to balance the need for nurture and structure in the work with clients served. The Clinical Therapist must be able to form and maintain healthy relationships with clients and co-workers, effectively communicate with others, and regulate their own behavior in all situations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Consult with MCH supervisor and, if applicable, clinical supervisor to ensure clients receive appropriate psychological and mental health services.

Provide therapy services for clients.

Conduct mental status assessments.

Stay current with practices, procedures, and protocols for the applicable MCH programs.

Maintain compliance with applicable licensing and accreditation standards.

Work collaboratively in a proactive and positive manner with other department staff.

Represent program at agency functions, activities and events.

Represent agency at community functions, activities and events.

Complete required documentation.

Complete required CEU’s to maintain licensure.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This is a professional position that may require more hours than a normal 40-hour workweek. Presence during normal business hours of the agency is required to provide supervision, staffing, and availability for consultation. Responsibilities may include evening and weekend work. This position will require the ability to respond to crises after hours based on agency need. A technology stipend is provided to support the communication requirements of this position.
EDUCATION/LICENSURE
A master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related human services field is required. Candidates must hold an active Texas license as an LCSW, LPC, or LMFT, as required by the assigned program/department. A minimum of three years of experience in a related field is preferred. The Clinical Therapist must meet eligibility requirements for Texas Medicaid and STAR Health credentialing for the assigned program/department and obtain full credentialing within one year of hire.
