Join a dynamic outpatient physical therapy team in Wilson, North Carolina, a welcoming and growing community in eastern North Carolina. Wilson offers the perfect blend of small-city charm and convenient access to larger metro areas, with Raleigh and the Research Triangle region within an easy drive. Residents enjoy a lower cost of living, friendly neighborhoods, and minimal commute times, making it an attractive place to build both a career and a home.
Wilson is known for its vibrant downtown revitalization, local arts and culture, and family-friendly atmosphere. The city features a unique public art scene including the famous whirligig sculptures, local festivals, and outdoor concerts. Nearby parks, greenways, and recreational facilities offer opportunities for walking, running, and sports, while regional attractions and the North Carolina coastline are accessible for weekend getaways. Living and working in Wilson allows you to enjoy a relaxed lifestyle with access to dining, shopping, and community events, without sacrificing proximity to larger city amenities.
This position is based in a well-established outpatient physical therapy clinic connected to a broader regional and national therapy network, located on or near a medical campus in Wilson. The clinic emphasizes high-quality, evidence-based care with a strong orthopedic and sports medicine focus. Patients include a mix of post-surgical cases, chronic and acute musculoskeletal conditions, work-related and sports injuries, and general orthopedic referrals from a variety of physicians and healthcare providers.
As a Physical Therapist in this clinic, you will be responsible for performing comprehensive evaluations, developing individualized treatment plans, and progressing patients through their rehabilitation programs. Typical interventions include manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, neuromuscular re-education, balance and gait training, and functional movement retraining, all guided by up-to-date clinical guidelines and best practices. You will chart using an electronic medical record system, maintain accurate and timely documentation, and communicate regularly with referring providers regarding patient progress and outcomes.
A typical day includes managing a scheduled caseload of adult and adolescent patients, with occasional geriatric and young athlete populations depending on referral patterns. Caseload volume is structured to allow for appropriate one-on-one patient interaction, thorough assessments, and individualized care. You will coordinate care with physical therapist assistants and support staff, ensuring that each patient receives consistent, well-organized treatment. The environment encourages collaboration, clinical discussion, and ongoing learning among team members.
The clinic offers access to a modern treatment space with updated equipment, including therapeutic exercise machines, functional training tools, and private or semi-private treatment areas. Integration with a nearby medical campus and local providers supports a continuous stream of varied referrals, supporting professional growth and exposure to a wide spectrum of orthopedic and sports-related conditions. This setting is particularly well-suited for clinicians looking to refine manual therapy skills, develop expertise in specific patient populations, or take on clinical leadership opportunities over time.
Typical hours follow a regular weekday schedule, with daytime and possible early evening hours to accommodate patient needs. Weekend work, if any, is limited and scheduled in advance. The work environment is professional yet supportive, with a focus on teamwork, patient-centered care, and positive outcomes. Newer graduates receive guidance and support as they transition into independent practice, while experienced clinicians have opportunities to shape clinical programs and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
