What You’ll Do
- Provide high-acuity PCU stepdown nursing care with appropriate monitoring and escalation.
- Manage patients requiring frequent assessments and potential rapid intervention.
- Support care for complex medical and post-procedure patients (as applicable to unit assignment).
- Titrate and manage common PCU therapies (as applicable), including cardiac/vasoactive and insulin infusions.
- Participate in safe medication administration and ongoing patient response evaluation.
- Perform/coordinate clinical skills such as line/tube/drain management and wound care.
- Complete required competencies and maintain compliance with unit expectations.
What You Need
Required
- Active RN license
- 2 years PCU RN experience
- BLS
- ACLS
- NIHSS
- Ability to complete an EKG competency exam as part of compliance (prior to arrival)
Preferred
- LVAD certification (preferred for specific cardiac stepdown coverage)
About the Assignment
This PCU role provides care for a mix of stepdown patients across medical and cardiac stepdown areas, with assignments finalized during orientation. You’ll join a diverse team with multiple travelers and a unit culture described as traveler-friendly, supported by on-unit clinical resources and hospital coverage.
