Registered Nurse - PCU (Stepdown/PCU) - City, State

What You’ll Do
- Provide PCU-level nursing care for patients with CVA/TIA diagnoses
- Use NIHSS experience to support neurologic assessments and care planning
- Manage time-sensitive monitoring and bedside interventions, including arterial line care
- Support advanced care needs such as foley catheter management and tube feedings via NGT/PEG
- Perform and support drip titration, including preferred Levophed and other common infusions (e.g., Amiodarone, Cardizem, Insulin)
- Deliver safe, standards-based care with appropriate PPE and patient safety practices
- Complete documentation using the Meditech Expanse EMR and medication workflow via Pyxis/Alaris pumps
What You Need
Required
- BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
- 2 years of experience (PCU/acute care experience required)
- Experience supporting PCU-level care and NIHSS in a clinical setting
- Competency in PCU skills including foley management and NGT/PEG tube feedings
- Ability to support arterial line care and drip titration (Levophed preferred)
Preferred
- Levophed experience (preferred for titration support)
Additional Compliance Note
- The traveler (and includes MedSurg RN) will be required to pass an EKG competency exam prior to arrival as part of compliance.
About the Assignment
Join a 6-bed PCU/Stepdown-style unit caring for patients with CVA/TIA. Staffing includes charge nurse support and resource nurse coverage, with 24/7 respiratory therapy and hospitalist support available. You will also have access to therapy services (OT/PT/ST) and VAT support for PICC/midline placement as needed.
