What You’ll Do
- Provide laborist coverage in an L&D/OB/GYN practice setting using a hospital-based approach
- Manage low-risk and complicated obstetric cases in collaboration with the care team
- Perform and support routine and complicated labor & delivery processes, including decision-making for C-sections
- Support deliveries including vaginal delivery, low forceps, C-sections, breech/multiple births, and VBACs
- Perform repairs of 3rd & 4th degree lacerations
- Participate in gynecology surgical care as needed, including laparoscopic diagnostic/minor procedures (e.g., tubal ligation/LOAs/chromal tubation) and open surgical gynecology
- Use the Epic documentation system to chart and communicate clinical care
What You Need
Required
- Physician credentials required to provide obstetric care (specific license/certifications not listed)
Preferred
- Experience managing labor and delivery patients, including routine and complicated deliveries
- Familiarity with common OB procedures such as C-section decision-making, VBACs, breech/multiple births, and delivery-related laceration repair
- Experience with Epic documentation (if available/required at credentialing)
About the Assignment
This locum coverage supports St. Joseph Warren Hospital due to a need for additional employed physicians and midwives to cover the laborist model. The role covers L&D/OB-GYN needs in a supported inpatient setting, working alongside RNs and CNM staff, with onsite lab and ultrasound available.
