What You’ll Do
- Provide skilled nursing care in Medical-Surgical/Telemetry for an oncology-focused patient mix.
- Float to various Oncology Medical-Surgical (MS) units as needed based on department needs.
- Deliver safe patient care in a secure corrections unit environment with access controlled by corrections staff.
- Monitor and manage patients requiring telemetry/cardiac monitoring, including emergency response as appropriate.
- Support complex care needs including IV therapy, medication administration protocols, and line/patient management.
- Manage patient needs related to oncology and related admissions (e.g., oncology workups and history of cancer admissions).
- Document care using EPIC and ensure accuracy and continuity of patient records.
What You Need
Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- EPIC charting experience required
- Comfort working Medical-Surgical/Telemetry patients
Preferred
- Oncology experience (preferred but not required)
About the Assignment
This role supports a corrections health unit serving patients within the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections (ODRC). The unit is a locked, access-controlled environment where staffing may include assignments across MS and PCU depending on the department’s needs. Patient care involves a mix of oncology diagnoses and oncology-related workups, along with non-oncology admissions that require similar advanced monitoring and nursing support.
