What You’ll Do
- Provide direct bedside nursing care for adults and geriatrics with newly diagnosed acute leukemia and related hematology needs
- Deliver care aligned with infection prevention protocols (high emphasis on unit processes)
- Support patient falls prevention practices and safety interventions
- Monitor and manage patients using telemetry/telemetry monitoring when applicable to the role
- Use and coordinate with Rapid Response Teams as clinically indicated
- Support advanced line and access needs, including:
- Feeding tube care and management
- IV therapy/phlebotomy
- Blood product administration
- Central line blood draws
- Peripheral line care/management
- PICC line management
What You Need
Required
- BLS
- ACLS
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
Preferred
- ONS Chemo Certification
- NIHSS
- Experience with MS/Telemetry and interpreting dysrhythmias
- Comfort with telemetry monitoring and rapid-response escalation
About the Assignment
This Acute Leukemia and Hematology-focused PCU assignment cares primarily for newly diagnosed acute leukemia patients, with staffing goals around 1:4 (may be 1:5 as needed) and variable weekend scheduling based on unit needs. You’ll complete orientation with the first week (Mon–Fri dayshift) followed by on-unit training, and you may rotate between day/night depending on contract and staffing priorities.
