Under general direction and following established medically-approved policies and procedures, implements specialized skilled nursing processes in designated hospital units of Ventura County Medical Center (VCMC) and Santa Paula Hospital.This position is for a Perioperative Registered Nurse & Clinical Educator. The ideal candidate will be equipped to fulfill the roles of educator, consultant, facilitator, change agent, leader, and researcher and will promote excellence and safety in professional nursing practice; be responsible for assessing, developing, planning, implementing and evaluating educational programs for perioperative personnel (Surgery, Pre/Post, Sterile Processing Department, GI lab, to maintain competency, and continuing education). Additionally, the incumbent will promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization. PAYROLL TITLE: Senior Registered Nurse-Hospital What we offer: New Hire Incentive - New hires may be eligible for a one-time New Hire Incentive of up to 7,000.00. Educational Incentive for completion of: 2.5% for an Associate's degree, 3.5% for a Bachelor's degree, or 5% for a Master's degree. Certification Pay: $0.813 per hour based on scheduled work week hours for each qualified certification up to a maximum of five (5) certifications. Examples Of Duties Duties include but are not limited to the following: Plans and provide perioperative personnel education and resources; Acts as a clinical resource for perioperative personnel using evidence-based standards and professional guidelines; Assesses the environment to determine educational needs of patients and perioperative personnel; Assists perioperative personnel in the evaluation of current practice through quality and process improvement measures; Collaborates with other members of the health care team as required; Facilitates and monitor perioperative personnel compliance with organizational policies and procedures and regulatory and accreditation standards; Mentors team members as required; Manages all aspects of educational projects to include fiscal responsibility; Assists periperative personnel in assessing their individual learning needs and styles; Maintains perioperative employee educational data and records as required; Facilitates student learning experiences in the perioperative setting; Pursues professional growth and participate in a professional organization; Acts as a patient advocate and maintain privacy and confidentiality of individuals and health information; and Performs other related duties as required. Skills
Requires two (2) years of full-time professional registered nursing experience including two (2) years of full-time experience in assigned hospital specialty area. Must possess and maintain a current, valid license as a Registered Nurse issued by the State of California Must have a current, valid Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification by first day of employment Graduate from an accredited school of nursing Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification Certified Nurse, Operating Room (CNO) certification Surgical services experience
