What You’ll Do
- Provide high-acuity PCU nursing care in a Medical Oncology setting
- Prioritize infection prevention protocols and patient fall prevention practices
- Deliver telemetry/PCU level monitoring and support for oncology patients
- Perform and manage common PCU/oncology workflows, including central/peripheral line care, PICC management, and port access
- Administer and monitor blood products and support heparin protocols
- Support respiratory therapy needs as applicable, including CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, and tracheostomy care/management
- Coordinate care using clinical judgment, including rapid response team readiness and monitoring (e.g., dysrhythmia interpretation)
What You Need
Required
- BCLS, ACLS, and NIH
- High-acuity PCU patient experience
- Strong focus and comfort with infection prevention and patient falls protocols
- Experience with PCU-level priorities (including telemetry-style monitoring expectations)
Preferred
- Oncology experience (preferred, not required)
- 2+ years of oncology experience (preferred, not required)
- Previous travel experience
- Comfort with additional oncology-related skills (e.g., chemotherapy administration/monitoring, wound vac/wound care)
About the Assignment
This assignment is in a Medical Oncology setting with progressive care beds and telemetry-level monitoring. The unit includes pediatric patients only rarely, and pediatric experience is not required for agency RNs. Your schedule will be developed with your input via self-schedule requests, and you will complete orientation including a Mon–Fri dayshift first week and additional on-unit orientation with a preceptor.
