What You’ll Do
- Provide medical-surgical/telemetry nursing care for oncology patients with mixed acuity needs
- Monitor and respond to telemetry rhythms/dysrhythmias, including use of appropriate rapid response practices
- Administer treatments and therapies as ordered, including blood product administration
- Manage and care for central and peripheral IV access, including central line blood draws and ongoing line care
- Support care for patients requiring PICC line management and feeding tube care/management
- Contribute to safe, accurate documentation using Epic (Epic experience required)
What You Need
Required
- RN license (as applicable for practice)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Minimum 1 year medical-surgical and oncology experience
- Epic experience required
- Telemetry (MS/Tele) competencies, including dysrhythmia interpretation
- Experience with blood product administration
- Experience with central/peripheral line care and PICC line management
Preferred
- ACLS
- Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) chemotherapy-related certification
- Heme/Oncology experience strongly preferred
- Chemotherapy certification (note: not required)
About the Assignment
This assignment is for an oncology/mixed acuity medical-surgical unit caring for patients with diagnoses that may include leukemia and lymphoma types, amyloidosis, aplastic anemia, chronic and non-hodgkin’s conditions, and other complex hematology/oncology needs. Patients may receive advanced therapies including autologous, syngeneic, and allogeneic transplants, as well as CAR-T therapy.
