What You'll Do:
- Provide safety-focused nursing care to surgical oncology and medical patients in a busy PCU setting
- Administer chemotherapy, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, and manage oncologic emergencies
- Monitor and respond to patient needs, including cytokine release syndrome, insulin, and heparin drips
- Maintain infection prevention protocols and prevent patient falls
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Utilize electronic medical records (EPIC) for charting and documentation
- Float within scope as needed, supporting unit needs across shifts
What You Need:
- Valid Ohio RN license or multi-state license
- Minimum of 2 years of recent RN experience in a hospital setting, preferably in surgical or oncology units
- Current BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Strong clinical skills and attention to infection control
About the Assignment:
Join a high-volume surgical oncology unit that cares for patients with diverse diagnoses such as breast, thyroid, melanoma, hepatobiliary cancers, colorectal cancers, and reconstructive surgery patients. The unit emphasizes safety, quality care, and teamwork, with a focus on infection prevention and patient safety. Orientation begins with weekdays, followed by 36 hours of on-unit training with a preceptor.
