Requirements:
- 25 bed CAH RN for ICU/PCU -Nights must be experienced in all areas and willing to float to MSU as needed.
- WA license must be ACTIVE.
- 3+ years of experience
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Identifies patient's/significant others needs for patient education and provides education utilizing appropriate education modalities.
- Identifies and provides for patient safety through preventative measures (i.e., side rails, restraints, safe use of equipment, etc.) follows restraint policy correctly, evaluates and documents appropriately.
- Demonstrates knowledge of safe operation of all equipment in the PCU/Telemetry/MedSurg areas.
- Is aware of troubleshooting techniques and follows procedures for repair of essential equipment and able to access equipment manuals.
- Able to care for patients with cardiac monitoring, complex medication regimens and all aspects of PCU level of care.
- Communicates appropriately and clearly to charge nurse, co-workers and physicians.
- Consults other departments as appropriate to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient’s needs.
- Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly.
- Maintains a good working relationship within the department and other departments.
- Documentation meets current standards and policies.
- Coordinates and implements patient care specific to the age of the patient population served on the assigned unit.
- Demonstrates the ability to perform treatments and provide services to level of licensure.
- Effectively supervises and directs delegated functions of technical and ancillary personnel.
- Functions as a preceptor for new employees and students as assigned.
- Provides patient and family education as needed.
- Maintains and restocks emergency carts, room and general supplies.
- Other duties as assigned.
