Description

We are looking for a caring and competent Occupational Therapist or Physical Therapist with a CHT certification. This is to support our patients with upper extremity and hand therapies in our busy PT/Occupational clinics.

You will be responsible for examining, evaluating, diagnosing, developing treatment plans, and providing prognoses for our amazing patients.

Duties

Focus will be working with patients with upper extremity and hand issues.
Provide educational information about physical therapy, injury prevention, ergonomics and ways to promote health..
Plan, prepare and carry out individually designed programs of physical treatment to maintain, improve or restore physical functioning, alleviate pain and prevent physical dysfunction in patients.
Focus on the evaluation of strength, balance, range of motion, coordination, endurance, and posture of each patient.
Perform and document an initial exam, evaluating the data to identify problems and determine a diagnosis prior to intervention.
Evaluate effects of treatment at various stages and adjust treatments to achieve maximum benefit.
Administer manual exercises, massage and/or traction to help relieve pain, increase the patient's strength, and decrease or prevent deformity and crippling.
Work as a team with a variety of other professionals including physicians, occupational therapists, physical therapy assistants and technicians; all with the goal of reaching maximal patient functional independence.
Understands medical practice policies/procedures, regulations, safety/injection control, and quality assurance requirements.
Provides and/or recommends equipment or supplies for home use and gives instruction of an “in-home” treatment program to facilitate rehabilitation to promote independence in care.
Identifies physical, social, and psychological needs of the patient.
Collaborates with patient, caregivers, family members, and other healthcare professionals in planning discharge from rehabilitation services.
Confers and communicates with referring physicians and other appropriate person through the use of progress notes, letters, evaluations, meetings, and direct contact concerning the proposed course, progress, and discharge plan of each patient.
Provides clinical supervision to physical therapy staff regarding patient assessment and implementation of treatment plan.
Attendance

Prompt and consistent attendance is essential for the performance of this position.

Skills

Education

Bachelor Degree
Master, and/or Doctorate degree in occupational and/or physical therapy from an accredited university/program.

Occupational and/or Physical Therapy Licensure of PT and OT Examiners in the State of Texas.

CHT certified preferred.

CPR certified required.

Qualifications

Prefer candidates with outpatient experience.
Knowledge of basic science including biology, chemistry, and physics as well as biomechanics, neuroanatomy, and disease manifestations.
Excellent customer (patient) service skills with the ability to maintain that demeanor when dealing with difficult, impatient, or upset people.
Ability to promote favorable facility image with patients, physicians, insurance companies, and the general public.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to demonstrate compassion and desire to help patients.
Ability to multi-task and manage time and patient schedules accordingly.
Able to meet deadlines and modify treatment plans as appropriate.
Knowledge of EMR systems.

Physical Demands

Ability to sit, stand, and walk for long periods.
Ability to bend, kneel, stoop, twist, reach and lift.
Must be able to transfer patients safely.
Lift and carry equipment up to 50 pounds.
