Description
The Inpatient Physical Therapist is a licensed rehabilitation professional who is responsible for patient assessment, treatment planning, goal setting and implementation of physical therapy programs for acute care and rehab inpatients with physical disabilities or limitations.
Accurately performs initial physical therapy evaluations including ROM, manual muscle testing, functional ability testing, etc. to identify problems needing physical therapy intervention
Establishes realistic short-term and long-term goals with time frames for acute care and rehab inpatients. Implements physical therapy treatment which may consist of correct performance of modalities (hot packs, cold packs, ultrasound, traction, electrical stimulation, massage, whirlpool and pulsed lavage), therapeutic exercise and functional training in transfers, bed mobility and gait.
Keeps accurate, concise and clear documentation of treatment including progress towards goals
Collaborates and communicates effectively with other healthcare professionals, including physicians
Supervises and delegates appropriate portions of treatment to PTAs. Performs other duties as assigned
