What You’ll Do
- Provide high-quality nursing care to PCU patients with various conditions including CVA and TIA
- Administer medications, including drips like Levophed, Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Insulin
- Manage invasive lines such as CVL, arterial lines, and Foley catheters
- Monitor patient vitals, perform assessments, and respond to patient needs promptly
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including hospitalists, RTs, PTs, and ST
- Document patient care accurately in Meditech Expanse EMR
- Support patient safety and comfort throughout your shift
What You Need
- Active RN license in Louisiana
- At least 2 years of recent PCU/med-surg RN experience
- Certification in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Proficiency in IV management, medication titration, and EKG interpretation
- Ability to pass an EKG competency exam prior to start
- Strong clinical skills in patient assessment and critical care procedures
About the Assignment
Join a dedicated team on a 13-week adventure at a leading hospital in Bossier City, LA. The unit features a 6-bed PCU with a focus on acute care, CVA/TIA management, and supportive patient care. Nurses will work 12-hour night shifts, with weekend rotations, and support is available around the clock from hospitalist, RT, OT, PT, and ST teams. The unit uses Meditech Expanse EMR, IV pumps, and Pyxis medication dispensing, ensuring a modern and efficient work environment. Orientation includes a 2-day hospital overview and a 1-shift on-the-job session.
